abstract = "In the recent decades, the fires spots in the Amazon has increased
considerably, especially in the protected areas, interfering in
the use and land cover, causing an increase in forest fires and
consequently there is a big loss in vegetation cover. In this
perspective, the use of remote sensing and Geographic Information
System are of great importance to detection areas deforested to
assist in environmental monitoring. The software utilized in this
article was the ArcGis 10.1. This article aims to analyze the use
and land cover between the year 2004 and 2014 from TerraClass
data, developed in partnership with INPE and EMBRAPA and the fire
spots, using the methodology of Kernel density, between 2006 and
2016, located in the Mesoregion of Maraj{\'o} in State of Para.
This mesoregion contains five special areas, and in the recent
years had major incidences of fires spots in these protected
areas. After processing, the results showed that there was a
decrease in vegetation cover in the mesoregion of Marajo that
showed 84.29% in 2004 and decrease to 81.92% in 2014. The density
of outbreaks fire showed that 44.23% of fire spots in the
mesoregion of Maraj{\'o} for the year 2016, are concentrated in
                         the special areas.",
